Café Caturra [14]
One of the big benefits of playing this game every week is visiting places you have never even heard of. Café Caturra fits that bill this week, though it’s menu gave it away in a heart beat. It is an upscale Panera, soups, salads and sandwiches oh my.
I picked the horseradish roast beef panini (yum) and Ethan went with a chicken, bacon and mozzerrella one. The sandwiches were easily the highlight of the meal. “The crust was perfect” – Ethan. The chicken chili did not live up to the bar the paninis set. It was more broth than chili and could have been much spicier. I got boring water (you’re welcome new years) and Ethan ordered a cafe mocha. It sounded like it was par for the Richmond coffee course though.
The prices were a little high, considering there are soups and sandwiches in every direction you can point in the West End. The staff may have been pleasant to look at, but the local Hooters could cover that, if it were our goal. The decor and patrons both spoke to the upscale feel Caturra is going for. Overall the thought we both had was that it was nice, but that we would not be back.
