Sunset Grill
West of Short Pump has been nothing but good to us in the course of our 52 week journey. We don’t make the trip that often, but Sunset Grill called to us for week thirty six. After numerous recommendations (Ethan’s mom), we finally crossed 288 once more. Bringing Meg along for the ride and less nerdy conversation in the process.
The outside of Sunset is already less than appealing to look at, but was also under construction the day we visited. To renovate the exterior? I don’t know and it doesn’t matter. The interior was pleasant enough and we were there for the food. Speaking of the food. It was good!
Meg had the Prime Rib Cheese Steak
Wrap on a sub roll with “lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and flavorful”. Some how they were out of wraps, even though it was the lunch special and they opened 30 minutes before we got there. There must have been a line at the door. Odd, but the sub roll sufficed. Ethan picked the Cuban. Which was good enough, but he regretted not getting the sailor. Out of a sense of 52L duty, I had said sailor. It was delicious, as most sailors are. Not too much greasy and the bread lived up to the challenge of holding so many meats.
Lunch topics: Teaching, classroom technology, fording Broad St. on two wheels, work, ladies be peein’, modern parents failings in parenting, Twitter/Facebook habits, Jinx!
